I just want to say A BIG THANKS to everyone who has posted on this question. I really appreciate all the info, and know that I better clean my machines more often. I did find some unused makeup brushes and they are great. I am also looking into purchasing the keyboard vacuum. It is small and can sit right on my sewing table. Just be visible to REMIND me to vacuum.

i have one i use its ok i get more by using the little brush thing to get way down in there and pull out all the lint

I have the little adapter set to use on computers and sewing machines. One good thing about the vacuum set is that it brings the lint out of the machine instead of just moving it around and possibly dropping into the bottom of the machine. And some areas are really hard to get into with a brush.

Ok, I'll admit it. I use duct tape.
Seriously, I have a hand vac that I use. It has a "crevice" tool that flips up, so then the opening is about 1/2" by 1". Now, with duct tape, I attach a drinking straw to the end of the crevice tool. Just be sure to not completely seal the opening. Leave about 1/3 of it open so the suction isn't so high that it collapses the straw.
The drinking straw is small and flexible enough to fit into the tiny spaces around and under the bobbin case and feed dogs. I get it right down into the base of the machine and you'd be surprised how many wooly boogers come out of there. The best part is : because the hand vac has such a small dust cup, if I accidently suck up something I shouldn't ( oops ) I can find it without any trouble. This has been working well for me for years.

I use a hand vac that has attachments.
Mostly I use it on my Serger...like every time I use it!
