I am working on a Log Cabin that takes probably 35-40 different batik fabrics. I named them. Like Mr Ugly, Ms Sparkles, Bubbles, Ditzie Dottie, Passionate Purple, Olive Oyl.
My GF came over to quilt on Saturday and thought I was nuts when I was talking to myself."Mr. Ugly is up next" or "Come on Ditzie Dottie, lay straight for me" I have always named my fabrics in a project. It's the only way I can keep them in order when I am doing a piano border or bargello etc. She made me feel like it was the weirdest thing. Fess up. Am I an idiot or do you guys do this too? |
I don't, but I can see where it could be helpful.

I don't name them but I have been know to call them names when things aren't going right....LOL :D

what a good idea!!

I did it with four of the Slipknot shirts in my t-shirt quilt: "Maggot", "Paul Grey", "#2", and "Iowa". The only other person it made sense to without having to explain it was my brother, who likes Slipknot and will be getting the quilt when I get around to finishing it (wasn't originally intended for him).

Never have before, but thanks for the idea. Sounds like something that would help and fits my personality. :)
I name most everything else, why not my fabics! LOL |
LOL, that's a novel approach!

Ok, well I guess it is just me. I suppose you all dont make up little songs so that you keep track of piecing order either. "Some dark to the left, a light on the right and mama will be happy all night"
No wonder she looked at me like I was nuts. |
Interesting. Can't think what DH would do if he found me doing that, so perhaps best kept for when I am alone!

That's okay...they understand you in your own little world....
