I really like their thread........and I am just putting the binding on a quilt which was a kit from them. Wonderful fabric and great instructions!

I agree with the general sentiment here that CT threads are great, if linty, but cleaning the bobbin area with each change mitigates that problem. We have used their fabrics and love them. Some of their prints are "cutesy" as others have commented, but their solids, mirage, stripes and other basics are great. And, the threads and fabrics are designed to match.
Our last order included "Technicolor Tidings." The colors and designs are really fun and are going to look great in Christmas quilts for our "Brady Bunch" house. Darren |
OK, I didn't read through all the replies, so I may be contradicting or repeating.
I've tried them recently. To sample their fabric, I bought about 15 charm packs. These are my thoughts: (1) Price - it is amazing that they can sell charm packs/precuts at the same per yard price as yardage. I guess it is like a paid sample, to encourage people to buy yardage. I do appreciate that. (2) quality of cotton - in general, good. But I find their shot cotton and mirage range a tad coarse. I'd stick to Konas. (3) Design and print - I find the designs a tad simplistic/bland. It is OK for pastels, but the designs seldom go beyond a handful of colors. Also, I find the range pretty limited. The print is a bit rough too. The fine lines does not seem fine enough. I'd stick to their pastels or background-ish prints. For focal fabrics, I'd look elsewhere. That being said, CT is still a good place to shop, esp when they have sales. |

I get the Connecting Threads catalogue and also their emails. They carry beautiful fabrics. I'm confused as to why their prices are so much lower than all other designer fabric. Is the cotton inferior? I have ordered and it seems to be good quality. Does anyone have insight on this? I'm also wondering if you have used their thread for machine quilting? Does it compare to well known brands? Thanks.

I use it a lot and love the quality and the "feel" of the fabric. I have been very happy with the results of any quilts I have made.

i have used thread from them, and it works fine for machine piecing and hand sewing. i haven't hand quilted with it yet, so i can't attest to that.

I order books from them all the time, when they are 40% off. I have also gotten fabric as well. The solid cotton is great!! It reminds me of the new Kona Cotton that is more silky---I can't remember the name right now (too early). I did get a jelly roll (the dots) that wasn't very good, but the others have been of good quality. Since they are in smaller rolls, you have to purchase double to get the same amount as the other rolls, but still it is a better price.
I purchased one spool of the longarm thread just to see, and my machine LOVED it! So I purchased more! It compared to the much more expensive brands. All in all, I have found the company to be a great source. The shipping is speedy, and as someone else said, the shipping charges are affordable. I would give it a try. |
I've been very pleased with everything I've ordered from them.

I've used their threads on my HQ16 and yes, they're a bit linty. But, I do love them. In fact, I just received an order of their threads yesterday and plan to quilt with them today!

I use all their things. I love the thread. Longarm thread runs great thru my machine. I buy their cotton piecing thread and love em. I use shorted lengths when hand binding. I like their fabrics too. With the free shipping at $50, it's a great bargain!
