I used to wish that I could not work anymore and be able to just play all day with my varied interests in crafts. Well, be careful what you wish for!!!! Laid off three years ago and decided to just retire thanks to a great DH. Took awhile to learn how to play. I have worked since I was 17 and currently am 58. Felt guilty for some odd reason. Now, 3 years down the road, I love it. I must admit I miss the challenge of a once fast paced, heavy travel job.
Now I have put new challenges in front of myself. Polymer clay, fused glass, (hubby bought me a kiln while I was still working and I never used it)crochet, made 6 baby afghans since I have been laid off. Got into jewelry making a bit. Now quilting. It is something I have always wanted to attempt and I did 2 months ago. I blew the dust off a sewing machine DH bought me 10 years ago and I never used. I am so hooked!!! I love it. The best part...fabric shopping. OMG! Like I needed another obsession! I know I own Michaels craft store now I am looking to buy Joann's!! Quilting is GREAT. So, long story short, No, I can't ever see myself getting tired of it! |
I think about quilting when I wake up in the morning and then before I got to bed at night. Lol I've got it bad, I know lol but I have gotten tired of it before. I'm an addict though.

I should mention that even if I'm tired of quilting or sewing, I don't ever get tired of reading all of the quilting/sewing blogs and coming to quilting boards.

I have been retired for almost 5 years. Couldn't wait to stay home and quilt and I still have that same feeling. No I can't see myself getting tired of it. I better not with all the fabric I have in my sewing room.

I love quilting as a hobby, but if I had to do quilting as a job it wouldn't be fun anymore.

I have been quilting for almost 2 years. Last year I made quilts for alot of my family. Come Jan. 2010 I was a bit worn out with it and did not quilt for 4-5 months.
I have not made any quilts for any family with the exception of one for my son. I think what happened is I gave some quilts as gifts to those who were not quilt worthy and I was just kind of bummed about the whole thing. Now I am wiser and more selective. I am working on quilts now daily. I am retired also. JulieM |
I have sewed all my life, got into quilting 25yrs ago, retired 18 yrs ago and I am still going strong with the quilting. Always new fabric, patterns and ideas coming in magazines, on this board and every where else. Get tired of quilting?? I hope never.
