I quilt the very old fashion way with the rail type of quilting frame where you tack your quilt on with thumbtacks. But Iam going to try the method where your attach fabric leaders to your rails, than attach your quilt sandwich to the leaders.

Any of you that use this method what do you use to attach your sandwich to the leaders: large straight pins, safety pins, curved safety pins, tacking gun or do you hand base (sew) them to the leader? if you use pins what size?

I use large straight pins and lots of them. Every one overlaps the one before it.

Thanks! What fabric is used for leaders? It can't be too heavy or it would be difficult to pin to. whould doubled over muslin work?

I use safety pins

I use straight pins and find that since I'm using heavy canvas leaders I don't have to pin as closely, I can leave about an inch between the ends of the straight pins. The pins I use are the long quilting straight pins with the yellow heads.

I use 2" corsage pins.

I use straight pins and I have pillow ticking stapled as my leader fabric.
