I signed up to "Quilts by the Bay" newsletter in Galveston, Tx and they are offering a class that teaches you how to layer your quilts on top of the table no matter what size they are. It looked like in the picture the lady was using some type of pole or PVC pipe. Don't know about the rest of you all but my den isn't big enough for some of my quilts and it hurts my knees and back after a while crawling on the floor. I wish I could go to take class but Galveston is about 200 miles away. If anybody knows about it let us all hear from you. Deb

In her book Heirloom Machine Quilting, Harriet Hargrave explains how to layer your quilts on a smaller table. Basically you clamp down the back, start pinning from the middle and when the part on the tabletop is all done you shift do another section, reclamp the bottom layer and continue. I pin every two inches and use those plastic pin covers (Quilters Delight) and one of those wooden pin grabber thingies (Kwik Klip) and it works like a dream on my kitchen table. Also, the clamps I use are these blue and yellow plastic clamps I got from Home Depot - very easy to move.

I'm not sure about the quilt layering on a small table but I have seen beautiful quilts and fabric from Quilts by the Bay at the Houston Quilt Festival, they are absolutely gorgeous!

I dont know about that Co. either but I have a Joanns cutting table that was on sale for 59 dollars and I use it to clamp my quilts on.
Clamp down the middle first and pin then just move the whole thing to one side and clamp and pin then to the other side. It works for me.
I just cant get on the floor anymore so this is a great solution for no bending over or sitting on the floor.

I would like to know more about this method too! :D
