Does anyone use a singer 223 sewing machine? Do you have any problems (other than it weighs a ton). Are you able to FMQ on it? I got one from my brother and have not had the time to play with it yet. Is it just the older machines or is it just that model that you have to oil in 39 different places?

lol @ oiling 39 places! Well I am not sure of the FMQ but I am thinking you can. There is a Topic here by Lostn... Vintage sewing machines ... Here is the link.

If it moves, oil it.
Actually I don't know. Pm Billy. He's the resident vintage machine expert. From what I've seen on here if he doesn't know it, you won't need to either. LOL

My singer is was made in 1965 but I don't have a camera to take pictures. It is mounted in it's own cabnet but it really weighs a ton, and went you have to tilt it to change the bobbin you almost need to people. Can't wait to figure it all out.

I have a '61 Atlas and a new Juki and both need to be oiled well and regularly. The good news is that they run like tanks once they are oiled. Check in at the Vintage machine log- those folks know everything, and if you have any problems, they can probably troubleshoot you through a repair and provide places to get parts.

See if you can find an oil container with a long tube that comes out- will make your life a lot easier. But you can't kill those machines. No plastic parts and no computer- they will run forever.
