Alto Quilt cut system and is it worth the cost? How easy is it to use?

I handn't ever seen that before. I just googled it. It looks more difficult than than the Accuquilt Go. Just my opinion, but I'm still new to quilting.

A friend has it and she had to find a place to be able to leave it out because of the difficulty in getting it out and up-awkward and heavy. However, she does love it for cutting and now that it is out uses it a lot. Other than seeing it at her house and knowing she uses it successfully, I know nothing about it.

I have it and love it. I spent about $250 at a quilt show. I also SOLD my accu quilt to buy it as I didnt like the waste that the accu quilt generated. The Alto really doesnt waste fabric. I watched the demo first and thought it looked easy. I was pleased to find it was as easy as they said :-D

Never heard of it but will goggle it. Frankly I think cutting fabric is a fun part of quilting. You get to caress the fabric as you cut it!!LOL

There have been some threads on the Accuquilt versus the Alto Quilt Cut. They are two different types of cutting systems. If you use the "search" feature at the top, you should be able to find some of the older threads that contain pros and cons of both systems.

I have both the Alto Quilt Cut and the Accuquilt. I love both of them. I keep the Alto set up all the time. I have a special table just for it. My cutting has improved since using it. I only have 2 dies for the Go right now. I have a couple more coming in the mail. Both cutting systems were part of my "retirement gift". :thumbup:

I love my Alto Quilt Cut. Just ask my sisters, I talk about it all the time. My cutting is so much more accurate now. I don't find it difficult to take out or put away.It is very easy to use. I cut fabric for a quilt, and put the Alto back in its box until I am ready to start a new quilt. Lots of people like the Accu Cut, but I think it is pretty expensive to have to buy separate dies. .

Yes, I have the Alto's Quick Cut2. I have arthritis in my fingers and cutting is very difficult for me. I have been using my Alto's for years now. It is a godsend, literally. No matter what type of ruler I use I never really hold them still, I get tremors, and that defeats the purpose. With the Alto's I only need to use on pressure point to keep the cutting edge still ... and I can do that with my palm!

Also, there is no waste of fabric with the Alto's as with the accucut ... and you don't need to buy a bunch of costly dies.

I did splurge and got the carrying case and am glad I did. My Alto's is stored under my TV cabinet in my living room and the case makes it look like it belongs there.

I firmly believe if it weren't for my Alto's and my Pfaff I wouldn't be still quilting and sewing today.
