Does anyone own a Singer CE 250 sewing/embroidery machine?
 

I have been looking for a used sewing embroidery machine. I found an ad for a Singer CE 250 for $300. Says it's in good shape and comes with manual & a CD. I've checked & they seem to be going for more on Ebay & other sites. I've read both good & bad reviews. If someone on the board has one of these machines will you please tell me if you like the machine or have had problems with it, and if so, what are the problems. Thanks so much! Debbie

I've have one. Its okay. The sewing field is small(5x7) It runs off your computer so if you upgrade windows you have to upgrade the singer program. The digitizing program isn't great, but if you only buy designs thats no big deal. Storage of pattersn is on you computer so if your computer crashes you loose your patterns if you don't have them backed up on a flash drive. Yep I lost several hundred dollars in patterns. The hoops are known for breaking or the screws getting stripped. I've not had any real problems with the machine itself. It's only been in the shop once in 6 years. And that was for a routine checkup and timing was off causing stitching issues. But that was because I crashed it several times and the needle would jam. Operator error cost me around $100 bucks. All in all its a good starter machine if you aren't wanting to do any thing fancy. For $300 I'd get it, but would make them show you that it works before buying, have them stitch out a design.

I agree although I have never had a hoop break but $300 is a good deal.
