does anyone use an art table as a cutting table?

I was just watching a video on YouTube on squaring up fabric squares and noticed the lady was cutting on an art table- the table top is actually on an angle. I thought that would solve some of my back issues. Currently, I have a 6' folding table resting on bedrisers-which brings it to a good height (36") for me (I'm 5'8) but I'm still bending over which is not that great on my back. I also stand on those gel pads you put in front of an oven/sink.

What do you think? Would cutting on an angled table top work?

Thank you!
Deb

I just bought a drawing/architects table from Goodwill this past Sunday. The table top is on an angle. I've only cut out some binding strips, but so far I like it.

I think if you are cutting "up the hill" it would be advantageous, but sure about running parallel with the slant??? might be hard to keep the rotary from drifting?? might be worth a try! Linda

I cut on a hollow-core door set on top of two low bookcases. I have a bar stool that I sit on so I'm above the surface because my wonky back & knee can't take any other position. My DH nailed a wooden yardstick along one edge & it really comes in handy. All-in-all, I LOVE my cutting table!

As long as you don't have to fight your fabric as you lay it out to cut. It might want to slide down towards you. But it's probably adjustable, height and angle.

I bought a wonderful table last year from IKEA. It has variable heights that can be set via moveable pins. It can go flat, or angled like an architect table. About 180 dollars. I love it, as I also have back problems. Mary

I have one but not at an angle. I put it high enough so that I don't have to bend over. Best 17.00 I ever spent at a rummage!
