I just left a small quilt retreat at the Radison Hotel in Plymouth, MA., and meet with the Thimbles & Friends Quilt Guild. After I showed them my quilt frames, they showed me a small 2' X 3' wooden platform with tiny adjustable legs. The sewing machine slides into the platform creating a nice working area.
The ladies said I should make them for the Feather Weights. Does anyone have one of these platforms or know if someone already makes these? Thanks, Harry Barnett |
What a great idea, I bet there is a market for these :D:D:D

dont have one, would use it for FW if I did have ,pab

Assuming it folds to make it portable I'd be interested in one.

I may have misunderstood the original post and just thought of another question. You say it's a platform. Is this something that sits on a table or is it a table that sits on the floor?

I have a similar item on order from twice a treasure on eBay. My iPhone doesn't like to cooperate with listing pics and links, but I'll try. http://shop.mobileweb.ebay.com/searc...ice-a-treasure

It sits on a table. It has a cut out that the Feather Weight slides into allowing the top of the platform to be level with the Feather Weights working area. I am going to try to work on my first one this week.

How large of a working area would be ideal?

UPDATE: Got mine from twice a treasure, it's a work of art worthy of my FW. Perfect, solid, lush hardwood. Luxurious. I'm being careful with it, but it's solid wood , so I suppose it could be refinished one day if needed. A bit heavy to call "portable", but fine for a car to classroom trip.
