Maybe one of you would explain it to me?

Fussy cut is when you see a particular print, say a flower, in your fabric and you "fussy cut" to be able to get a square with that flower in the center or where you want it, as opposed to just cutting a strip and cutting your squares from that. In other words, you are choosing which part of your fabric you want to show up in your blocks. I have done it with animals, flowers etc to be able to have that show up and be seen.

Don't ever be embarrassed to ask a question :D:D:D
We all have questions from time to time :D:D:D

One more thing about the fussy cut:

Fussy cutting leaves your fabric looking like swiss cheese because you cut around the shapes that you want to "extract" from the fabric pattern.

No laughing here. I fussy cut princesses for my dgd first quilt and I didn't even know that's what it was called.

It's funny you should mention that. While I was attending my bee a few weeks ago, the term "fussy cut" came up and one of our long-time quilters asked what it meant. A few women were surprised that she didn't know it because she'd been quilting for many years. It turned out that several other quilters weren't familiar with it either. So you see, it's nothing to be embarrassed about. You're not the only one and if no one ever asked about these things a lot of people would just not learn what they are.

I have been quilting for about 42 years and I had to ask on here how to make a fussy cut and kwhite told me how. I had made a picture quilt for a doll quilt and had actually made several since, I never heard the term fussy cut until I saw it on this board. It is the same method. The people on here know everything and will gladly share with you.
