Catter to your needs? The one I go to ( Near my work) dose. They even ordred my hand needles that they did not carry. They even looked for a book that was no longer available and got it for me. Their motto is: If we do not have it we will get it for you.

Also if i am interested in taking a class(but can't do the one that is offered) , sometimes they will call me and let me choose a date that works for me, before putting it on the calendar, then they put up the date i chose for the class :-)

Yes, the local shop that I go to most frequently does cater to quilters' needs. they always tell you, if you don't see it, just ask. They have ordered special silk thread for me, and a stencil I needed. They are great.

The one I go to is fantastic. When I first got into quilting, I went to the closest shop, and had a horrible experience. I was left as a newbie to wander, not realizing one room was for staff only (then put up a sign that says staff only).

The staff were snobs to say the least. My quilting teacher suggested another one and I absolutely love going there. They will order things for me, help with colors, and make sure that everyone walking in the door has a good experience. I guess that is why they are one of the 16 Hometown Favorite Quilt shops from McCalls.

I've shopped LQS's in many states. To date, everyone has bent over backwards to help get what I need. Even at major quilt shows. Last year, at Paduach, one shop/vender, called home to make sure they had the fabric in stock, and mailed it to me, no shipping charge. Another vender, at the same show, pulled a pattern they were sold out of, out of a kit so I could buy it. Before the local LQS went out of business, they would pull out the wholesale catalog and look up the item I was looking for, and put it on the order for me. Was sad to see them close. The owners had to close to care for elderly parents.

Yes we have a good shop here and in Lyons (nearby town)

From these responses it seems that the owners of the LQS are the best around, YEA for them!

Mine does! Janet, the owner, makes it a point to remember everyone who comes into her shop and make them feel at home! She has very few customers that hand quilt, so when I asked for my brand of needle, she started carrying them for me. If I need something and she doesn't have it in stock, she has let me look through her ordering books to find it and then she has ordered it for me.

I love this gal! If you are ever in Clarksburg, WV, be sure to stop in at Classic Quilt Shop! Janet will make you feel right at home!
