I am trying to figure out a size for a project
If I start with 3, 4 or 5, inch squares what will the finished block size be ??? |
starting with 3 inch squares will give you a finished block of 7.75. 4 inch squares will give you a finished block of 10.75, a 5 inch will give you 13.75. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.:)

That math isn't working for me.
D9P - this guy? Just so we're all talking about the same thing. http://valentinequiltworks.blogspot....tch-quilt.html I've never made one but it's clear you have 3 seams (2 from joining the squares plus one from resewing after the cut), plus the outside seam allowances. So whatever you started out with, you would always end up with a finished block 2" less than the sum of the 3 cut squares. 3" cut squares = 7" finished 4" cut squares = 10" finished 5" cut squares = 13" finished Or am I missing something? |
Thanks again !

LOL!! You are right, I was only counting a quarter for all the seams instead of half, quarter on each side. Too early in the morning for me.:) |
