Does anyone know how to make the Dresden Plate pattern by paper piecing with coffee filters? It was in the June 08 Quilter's World. I have always loved the pattern but not sure if I like the process of making it. Thought maybe this would make it easier.
Thanks to anyone who can help.

Trace your design on the filter with a permanent marker. Put the right side of the fabric down on the filter.
Sew along the design, trim the fabric to 1/8" around the stitching.
Cut a slit in the coffee filter and turn the piece right side out.
Press the piece to make it lay flat.
Remove the coffee filter.

The down side to this is, there will be some paper left in your piece.

You can also use a soft thin interfacing instead of the coffee filter. It stays in, and remains soft and supple.

I have read used fabric softner sheets can be used in place of the interfacing, have not tried this myself. Just passing this along.

The nice thing about the filters is that they are round and well-suited for the round plate pattern. The dryer sheet is most likely not large enough.

I use the fusible interfacing on my circles, so I can iron them down. It helps things hold still while you applique the blades.
