easy pattern for these fat quarters

I am still working on my first quilt, but the bug is there and I can stop planning for the next one.....so I have begun to buy fabric. What about something like the log cabin square?

I would add some solid white to your collection and you could do any number of patterns that are made with strip sets. Disappearing 9-patch or 4-patch, Rail Fence and Bento Box come to mind.

I would add some solid red, white and black and do any of the above suggestions or turning twenty's kinds of quilts could be another option. Also, your local library might have some books on FQ quilts. I just think some solids would give your eye a place to rest. Interestingly enough, I just went to hand quilt at church last night and we were working on a "Wickedly Easy Quilt". I had not seen nor heard of it before and here it is again this morning! It was done in brights and with the "t's" in a black background that had dots of all the other brights. really fun for a girls room or college bed.

Look up "Slash and Sew" it is made for fat qtrs - it ends up looking like a crasy quilt.

What about a 10 Minute Block, and use the reds as the centers.

I'd do a Northern Star out of each of them and then arrange them in the quilt with white sashes and then a red and then a black border. Or you could do a red sash on the black stars and a black sash on the red stars. I am thinking of doing a black and white and red quitl come next year...I just did a northern star lap quilt and you can get 10 star blocks out of two fat quarters of the print and if you put a solid with the print..I think it was 1/2 yard of that.

These are some great ideas. I think adding some solid white/black/red might be the better way to go as it looks so busy all together. I am putting it off for now....I have yet to actually cut fabric by myself and am a little apprehensive. I guess afraid of making a mistake. We'll see. thanks for advice.

this one looks like a real winner for someone who is just beginning the quilting journey or like me, just want to do something easy but good.......

Yes I like the quilt pattern from fabric mom.com too! It looks real easy and could different fabric.

The Take 5 pattern is a very quick & easy one - no seams to match and it goes together so easy. You can add borders or not. Have fun with whatever you decide to make.

Wickedly Easy is the perfect one for fat quarters and its exactly as the title states, "Wickedly Easy" !!!

My second quilt was made using fat quarters, and this is probably the easiest quilt you will ever make. All you do is sew fat quarters together. Other than cutting your batting and backing down to size, there is no cutting at all. Here is a lapquilt sized one one I made for my son for Christmas one year, but you can simply make it 3 X 5 fat quarters instead of 2 X 4 and it makes a twin sized quilt. When I made my first one, it was a twin sized for my grandaughter. Hope this helps! :c)

M'liss Rae Hawley More Fat Quarter Quilts ( Triple Rail on Point ) is one of My favorite. Withe your colors and prints I would add a western print or paisley for the wide outer border GOOD LUCK:shock:

I love making the basic Turning Twenty quilt with fat quarters. Nothing could be easier!!

Turning twenty is a great way to go, I have used that pattern 4 times now...It's a good one, seems 3 of the 4 times I have used it was for impromptu quilts.
It does require 20 fat quarters..if you make it 72in. X 84in. (per pattern)

Just remember, ALL of us started at the beginning and made a first quilt. You are not alone
