yes, the one DH built me is based on easy quilter I and it cost $8 to build.

then i got the flynn frame online for $69 and i'm very happy with it. i'll keep this set up for a while before i upgrade.

DH seems very handy, maybe he can build me an Easy Quilter 3 for a lot less.. Im serious!!

i'm sure if he saw it he'd be able to build it, it doesn't look like the tracking mechanism is very elaborate.

have you seen this quilting table yet?

its my favorite for smaller quilts. i have this set up on my sewing table all the time and i use it while piecing and then when i quilt anything 5 feet or under.

it only cost a few bucks to make.

where are you located? If he were to make one, transporting may be an issue. Im in MN for the summer and will be leaving Nov. 1st to head to AZ [Phx area] for the winter. I liked the Easy Quilter 3 concept..havent tried the foam thing yet, but may give it a try once I get down to Az.. happen to have some foam panels in the garage. Will let you know how it works out.. its a party for 30 days ending with a marty gras type parade but its more family friendly without having to flash people for beads.

Family-friendly mardi gras sounds like fun! Fall is a great time to be in New York.

my daughter is moving to Albany this fall...so who knows, I may ask you to have that ES 3 made after all.. would probably not visit her till spring though..

Is anyone using the Easy Quilter? I bought one at the Dallas Quilt Show earlier this year and it is still in the box because I am afraid to try it. I'm afraid because I don't have a modern machine with a stitch regulator. I have wonderful sewing machines but they are vintage. I'm wondering what kind of sewing machine folks are using with the Easy Quilter. I have taken the fold-down extension side off my Singer 301 and am contemplating using it on the EZ Quilter but there is not a quilting foot that fits this machine very well. I don't know about a FMQ foot for it. The only MODERN machine I have is an el cheapo Brother that I bought at Walmart about 8 years ago that sews beautifully! But it does not FMQ although the book says it will.

I have had an easy quilter for a couple of years. It worked well with my Bernina 430 and was set up on a 24 by 48 inch table. I did some small projects and alot of practice on muslin practice quilts. But I really wanted to be able to do queen size quilts and eventually got an 18 inch mid arm and frame. I found that all that practicing on my easy quilter helped alot when I started with my mid arm.
I used it both with and without my stitch regulator on my Bernina. I was getting pretty good without the stitch regulator.

I would suggest it as a learning tool and for small projects. (Although you can do larger quilts - just harder toshift them around on it.) It was alot of fun doodling and doing template patterns.
