I have the Easy Quilter III that I bought a few years ago. Great learning place for moving the machine when FMQ vs your hands/fabric. I like that it isn't as big as the quilting frame and now that I bought a used Janome 1600 with a little wider throat than my other machine, I am looking forward to getting more done before having to reclamp. This will also allow me to leave one machine set up for quilting while I piece with the other.I did have to get an extension for my foot controller as it wouldn't reach, but the local "the source" store had exactly what I needed. The product seems to be very well made and moves the machine very smoothly on the trolley, or at least as smooth as I can be.

Ihave the EZ Quilter...bought it at the Dallas Quilt Show last year. It has been waiting for a place to live...but the den is finally arranged such that it has a special place in front of the big window so that it does not need to be broken down when not in use. I had to talk hubby into giving up that space for his HO train hobby! Hopefully we will get the frame set up this week and then I'll be ready to rock and roll. I will be using a vintage mocha colored Singer 301 short bed machine on the trolley (I removed the short flip up extension to the side of the needle for greater access to the needle area. I can't wait to try this because I have never accomplished FMQ the other way and I found at the show that I could operate the EZ Quilter just fine. In fact, I was able to do some pretty good designs with it.

I do not have the space or the money for a long arm, and now days it costs so very much money to hire someone to do quilting...so, I'm hoping I get lots of use out of this frame system. I make mostly lap size quilts for charity.

One of the ladies on this forum encouraged me so much because I was so frightened of trying to FMQ...and now I can't wait to do it!

It is Thanksgiving Eve, 2013. I still haven't set up the EZ Quilter. It is still in the box. I am too afraid to set it up to try it. I think I wasted a lot of money. but I know I could do the quilting on it - at least I was able to at the show on theirs. I'm just afraid I don't have a machine that will work with it even though they said I could use the one I have (Singer 301).

Half the things we worry about never happen. The 301 will work. So what if you mess up a quilt, It is only fabric and they make more fabric everyday. For all you know, once you get it set up, you may find you have a true talent for quilting on a frame. It would be a shame for your skill and artistry to never see the light of day.
