Oh, the question... will the electric quilter 7 allow me to free design, or is it only for blocks? Sierra |
Yes, you can free-design. You can use Patch Draw to trace an image or draw freehand or make an applique shape. The only requirement is that all shapes have to be completely enclosed, meaning you can draw a circle or ellipse or other shape and pull the curves out into your shapes. You can also import photos to be used in your quilt. New to EQ7, you can also apply filters, just like in PaintShop or Photoshop programs. Does that help you?

I wanted everyone to know that Electric Quilt is having a BOM sewing contest from one of their blocks, and you could win software. Go to: http://www.doyoueq.com/blog/?p=1993
You can see my January block under the pictures. Have fun! |
your fabrics are also possible in 6. i have 7 and haven't yet seen that it's so much different. I think I need to take more time to play with it.

EQ7 - quilting design audition
I would like to learn to put my test quilting designs on it to audition them. That's what I want to do, need to spend the time learning where to get them, how to apply them. Anyone who has done it, give a shout and any tips and tricks are appreciated.

I have EQ5 and I love, but I've been thinking of upgrading soon. What's their web address?

I just loaded EQ7 onto my new computer - the other computer didn't have internet access! I've been on the website to check out the lessons - my goal is to learn how to use this product - maybe I will do it in the evenings when "watching" TV with the hubby. I've seen quilts that others have designed and have heard that others use this product a lot. It does have a good learning curve - but doesn't everything that is worthwhile!

EQ7is awesome. I had 6 first, learned how to use it and 7 made a lot of things even easier. You could scan fabrics in 6 too, but in 7 you can edit them right in the program rather than having to use another program to do so before importing. I've programmed every quilt I've made except the very first one into EQ, couldn't live without it!
