My aunt loves elephants and would like me to make her an elephant bed quilt. I haven't found any fabric that wasn't too juvenile or not easily fussy cut, but I recently found a paper pieced elephant pattern that I modified and really love. How can this pattern be enlarged to make a quilt center or is there a way to make templates to achieve this? I've only been quilting off and on for one year and I never seem to find simple projects.
Any help or comments are appreciated. 1st attempt at my modified pp elephant |
That's a really neat elephant. Can you enlarge the paper pieced pattern? Either in pieces or take it to Kinko's and get it enlarged? I love the fabrics you used!

I just inlarge mine on the copier, Just make sure it doesn't distort to much. Or you could use a large piece of paper and draw it out. Breaking it down into squares . It sounds hard but it's really easy, or I wouldn't be able to do it.

I took mine to staples and had it enlarged until it was big enough 200% wasn't quite enough to make a center but 250% would have been just right ( mine had long rays on it so 300% should make elephant just right.)
They charge by the size i paid 7$ |
What a cute pattern! I am always making things bigger
I just measure the pieces and draw them out on newpaper end roll. But getting them enlarged on a copy machine would be sooo much easier. |

Cool! You could do the elephant in grey moda marble and have it look like elephant skin. Maybe use a darker gray for the ears.

Very cute! How many blocks are you going to have in the whole quilt?
It'll be very special! M |
How about doing lots of elephants, all in different colors????
