I was surprised to find elmers school glue in Officeworks here in Perth Western Australia! The reason I was surprised is that usually we cant get anything mentioned on this board or in overseas quilting mags.
They had the clear in stock but not the white.
Is the white glue the one you use for sewing?

I'm actually using it for binding right now, using Sharon Schamber's method. I'm hand sewing the back down.

I did find a smaller empty bottle that had a finer point dispenser thingie, and transferred some Elmer's out of the larger container so I could get a thinner line.

I'm not familiar with the clear glue but as long as it says "washable" then
you should be fine.

It's the white glue that most of us use in the U.S. "Elmer's Washable School Glue"; just checked the label on mine.

I am so glad you asked this question. I have been wondering what the equivalent to Elmers glue would be here in Aus. It is difficult sometimes to translate some of the terms used into Australian lol :-D

I have also found Elmers at Officeworks here in Canberra and I can now buy Colour Catchers at my local Woolworths supermarket.

I've used the clear washable school glue. As long as it says washable school glue it should be okay. The main advantage to the white is that you can see where you put it.

I couldn't find any kind of equivalent here in Ireland either, and in the end, I answered a request from a board member and offered to do some applique for her. She wanted to pay me, and I said send me a couple (two!) bottles of Elmers. Guess what... she sent me 10! What a lovely lady.

Sharon Schamber sells the little fine points on her website. They come in sets of three, and I'm using the middle size.

Lacelady, 10 bottles ought to last a while. That was so nice!

Even off name brands of washable glue will work. I use it, mixed with water to thin it, to soak doilies in. Then I wring them out, shape them the way I want them and let them dry. I've formed them over styrofoam cones to make the bodies for angels, made them into heart shapes for the wings, etc.

Washable PVA glue has worked for me, I think it must be something close to Elmers.
