Embroidery Thread and Quilting?

I've been having a problem with my thread breaking constantly during FMQ (every few inches). After replacing my needle, adjusting the tension, and cleaning the bobbin case, I decided to try a different thread. I used a trilobal polyester by Signature A&E Inc, and it didn't break!

This is primarily an embroidery thread, but its also the third brand I've used and the only one that didn't cause problems so far. Are there any issues with using this type of thread to quilt?

I use Isacord and Exquisite thread which I bought from sewforless.com, where I bought my machine. Both are embroidery threads. The owner said a lot of people use embroidery thread for sewing and quilting.

I use Metro embroidery thread quite a bit on the longarm. I bought an assortment of colors several years ago, and I love it.

Polyester thread is used a *lot* for quilting nowadays. My midarm likes Glide, another trilobal polyester thread, so that's all I use for quilting now.

We like Glide and Sylko (made by Coats)....gives a great sheen and runs great!

Good to know. I have a lot of embroidery thread.

Some embroidery thread is rayon, which is really not strong enough for typical piecing and quilting. It is the polyester embroidery threads that quilters play around with.

Granted, I used it only once for quilting so far, but I love Glide thread. It is strong, does not break and has a beautiful sheen to it. If you want the quilting to be less noticeable, try using any poly thread. It works just fine.
