Hi ladies-Yesterday hcarpinini posted pictures from the England Festival of Quilts. There is one in particular I am really intrigued with-it is the 16th one down, it is brown,copper tones, is rectangular and the motif is snail like and looks like heavy quilting around the snail shapes. I love that one!!!! But really have no ides how to go about making the snail shape. Can any one send me in the direction of a similar pattern , or idea of how to go about making that shape?? According to the Quilt Show catalogue it is by C June Barnes of Hastings, England.

"Named 'Ammonoidia' - whole cloth on viscose wool felt-shrunk for distortion and dimensions - "Scoobie" laces offering resistance. An ammonite slab at the Natural History Museum."

I've literally copied that word for word and hope it makes sense (I have no clue, but have never done an Art Quilt). I'm intrigued by the description of 'Scooby' laces - to me that is a cartoon dog...

I'm no use on finding a pattern, but hope this helps even a little!

It being a whole cloth makes a lot of sense actually.

There are patterns out their for spirals though.

Oh brother-I just found a website that talks about C June Barnes stating she is the best machine quilter in the UK. Sooo-yeah-I may not be able to come close to that. Maybe I can try a 12"x12" and go from there!
