I, electronically challenged, got the EQ7 program and am at a loss. Is there someone out there who makes landscape, or "art" quilts that uses the EQ7 as a designing aid? I thought it would help me by my putting in my fabrics and seeing them in the quilt design, tell me if I have enough of a specific fabric, check out my colors, etc. I can't even MAKE the quilt design using it. I can't even figure out how to photo my own fabrics. Do I have to have a copier with special abilities?

And yes, I have spent days and days going over the EQ7 tutorials, have printed out the tutorials on the CD and have even taken one of 3 classes I found (60 miles away!!!) and will continue them. But I doubt if I could duplicate what we did at that class... and anyway it was about manipulating design elements that would be more useful in designing ones own block than doing landscape or fanciful quilts.

If someone can't come up with some positive ways for me to use my EQ7 I guess I'll drink swamp water and sell and go back to eye-balling and taking photos as I progress. I was hoping to significantly improve my designing process. Maybe I'm just too old.

Help!

I take a picture of my fabrics and import the picture to EQ7 that's much easier then scanning and I get better detail and color of the fabric. I made a simple landscape quilt pattern using EQ some time ago. I think I used the one patch quilt layout, made it the size I wanted and just drew my design how I wanted it then filled in the design with fabric I selected. I usually keep clicking buttons and icons until the program lets me do what I want with a design.

One thing I can suggest is the EQ website (http://www.electricquilt.com). They're wonderful and they've got a forum there where you can ask any question and lots of people know the answers!! Also, think about taking the EQ classes by Fran Gonzalez through quiltuniversity.com. I've taken all of them and they were wonderful. You do the classes when YOU have time, even at midnight, and it won't cost you a dime in gas!!
