was a bust. The fabric was ugly...ugly colors, ugly prints, ugly quality! There were very few "nice" pieces...unfortunately it was in "box lots". So you had to buy the whole box to get maybe one or two usable pieces.
There was one quilt top, but when they held it up you could see right through the fabric...it was so thin/cheap. I did end up spending $3 for a small box that had a couple quilt blocks and a "started 2 patch", and a few pieces of misc. fabric. Of the 3 quilt blocks, 2 of them are made from the thin fabric...the other one seems okay...I might make a pillow with it. The "started 2 patch" is an odd length...like 50" X 12", part is machine sewn and part is hand sewn...part of it is okay, but then the squares get REALLY "off". So still haven't decided if I'm gonna do anything with it or toss it. The misc. fabric that was in the box...still have to look through that to see if any of it is good enough to use. Glad I didn't spend more than $3 on the whole thing! |
So sorry it didn't work out, but you never know when you will find the diamond  Keep looking

Awwwwww - I'm sorry it wasn't good.
I don't like auctions. Can't stand waiting around "forever" to bid on something I may not get. Seems like a waste. I'd rather go to garage sales. |
Even though the quilts may not live up you to our expectations I always think they speak to the time and soul of those who made them. I have some100 y old that wouldn't win any awards but they speak to the soul of a different resourceful ere. My grand mother ,who had two daughters freeze to death, put me to bed every night underd quilts so heavey from being recovered that I couldn't turn over once in bed. one of the quilts i Have is made if mens shirts and pajamas from years ago. Win an award NO abut speak to the times YES. Live in the presentbbut look to the past.Someonewastalking about $14 a yard fabric we may need to learn fromour fore mothers.God bless

Aw shucks! I was waiting to hear that it was a great auction. There was a yard sale Friday that offered quilting fabrics and notions and I was going to get up early and go. I forgot until about 10:00 and I figured all the good stuff was gone, so didnt bother to make 12 mile drive into town. I hate being forgetful. Shoulda made myself a note. It is the Quilting Board's fault. I was busy reading on here.

Darn, we've been waiting patiently waiting. Maybe next week will be better.

Sorry it didn't work out but keep trying. I spent $2 on a box of sewing junk one night at an auction and as I was going through it I saw an ugly piece of tan yarn. I decided to discard it. When I pulled it out attached to the other end was a tiny pair of Ginghers---Hancocks has them for $24 or $25!!!! Sometimes we hit a jackpot, sometimes a booby prize.

Sorry about your luck at the auction. Keep trying though, I have had really good luck from time-to-time and I know you will too.
