Exhausted and yet content!

I had two big blue ziplock bags, you know the really big ones full of scraps! I have manage to narrow it down to one. well truth be told, I have another one in the attic, but that doesn't count cuz it is not sitting in my sewing room looking at me. So I have spent the weekend,Among other things, cutting strips, pressing, big ones little ones and all kinds of noodles. I have baskets full of strips, and I managed to make many strip blocks along the way. Also cleaned up my sewing room, made labels and organized my cupboards, cleaned the drawers out. not all the way done with that but mostly. Made alterations to a coat and hemmed a pair of slacks. Made 4 crocheted hangers (gift) and sewn up 6 cosy shawls for the nursing home/hospitals. Very pleased with my progress, back to work tomorrow. I just had to share my progress because I don't get many days like that!

Congrats to you, im startingfor christmas..i mean we know its coming, right. Now, just gotta clean that room.

hopetoquilt 12-30-2012 04:17 PM

Wow. My to do list for 2013 is shorter than what you just accomplished

Sandygirl 12-30-2012 05:00 PM

Ive been purging all day. I have two of those shopping bags from Marshall's filled with scraps and misc yardage that I know I will never ever use. I donate my unwanted fabric to a friend who teaches 4 H kids to sew. They make charity quilts all year long. Since I never have time to sew for charity...i feel like I am doing my part. That corner in my sewing room looks almost bare! Love this time of year...time off to do this.

Yep, I do admit that I don't mind this time of the year so much. My dh gets bored with being inside. Great time to catch up on some things though . I was on a roll today for sure. Just felt good to get something accomplished! Secretly, I am looking forward to a good old fashioned snow day! Providing I am at home and not work.

LoisM 12-30-2012 05:22 PM

Dang, deedum!! I'm impressed!! Just think of what you can accomplish in 2013! You go, girl!

Threads 77 12-30-2012 05:23 PM

All that would make me feel wonderful too! I keep thinking of all I need to do in my sewing room but just don't seem to have the energy. I did get several quilts finished before Christmas for gifts. So, maybe my body is just saying I need a rest. Just so many quilts I would like to make. Mary M

Sounds like you did a great lot of work. Got a lot of things done, that is great. Here I have been sitting with my computer dead, I just got it back, and sick with a bad bug. Haven't got one thing done. Hoping to fix that in a few days. Happy New Year.

QuiltnLady1 12-30-2012 05:40 PM

Great going!! That is a great way to start the new year. I have some things I want to do but no energy -- hope to get the energy back soon. I spent most of the summer organizing and the pre-Christmas sewing turned everything into a disaster again.

Sewbeadit I hope you are feeling better soon. It is rough to be sick over the holidays. Take care.

Tothill 12-30-2012 06:53 PM

Good going. I hope to tackle part of my sewing room on Tuesday. It needs some attention.

Jingle 12-30-2012 07:32 PM

Good for you to accomplish so much. I have days when I seem to have so much energy and get so many things done. I sure wish those days would come around faster. They don't seem to come around as often as they use to. I may be getting old.

Sounds like you got a lot done!!! Great job!!!!

earthwalker 12-30-2012 11:12 PM

Impressive! I really have to get my half of our work-room organised....have started sorting and filing magazines/patterns and once I have that done....the computer desk (piled high with various stuff)...then the bags and bags of scraps. I love threads like this because it really does keep us motivated.

That should give you a good start on your new year.

Lucy90 01-01-2013 07:41 AM

I'm sitting in my sewing room looking at quilt magazines!! Like I need another project. I have to get busy and get out of my funk and start sewing. Maybe it is just that time of year. Everyone have a Happy New Year!

patsynel 01-01-2013 07:46 AM

Whew, I am tired just reading about all you have done!!!! Great job.

quiltmau 01-01-2013 10:28 AM

sewing room is a mess as I have several projects in the works-need to quilt but hate that part!! Have project sorted out and in groups for this year(almost said next year but next year is this year already)
Did do my tax sorting-just need to fill out the paperwork. End of year seems to get here faster each year!! LOL

Happy New Year everyone!!

Lori S 01-01-2013 06:17 PM

You did great .. what a wonderful way to start the New Year! Pass some of that motivation my way ..Please!

MimiBug123 01-01-2013 06:41 PM

All of that makes me tired just reading it. I was thinking about doing the same thing tomorrow, but I believe I'll think about it some more, since I'm tired now.

nstitches4u 01-01-2013 09:27 PM

My goodness! You have been busy! Would you like to come and organize my sewing studio? lol

Virginiagirl 01-02-2013 04:28 AM

Hi, new to board. Wish I had your energy to organize. Made 20 table runners for Christmas gifts.

EdieClay 01-02-2013 05:25 AM

Wow, sounds like you're off to a great start. By the end of 2012, I was spending more time looking for stuff than quilting. One of my goals is to do just what you did. Get my quilting room organized ... again. I've got several quilts identified as 2013 Christmas gifts, so I've got to get my act together. You've inspired me!

kateyb 01-02-2013 06:01 AM

I'll be cleaning up my sewing room soon. I found a 7 1/2' x 11' area rug at a local thrift store for $12. It needs a small amount of cleaning but one of my sons is a floor tech at a local hospital and knows how to clean all kinds of floors, carpets, etc. and will clean it for me. It will go in my sewing room. It is just the right size to cover the floor without having to move the freezer or fabric shelves. Just have to move the tables and a few storage bins. So I'll do a little reorganizing then.
I think I'll start a list of possible gifts as I do that reorganizing.

quiltingeileen 01-02-2013 06:07 AM

I'm inspired. What a great feeling to have accomplished so much. Wonderful start to the New Year.
