Trying my best to use my stash to make quilted projects and but finding it so hard to shop my fab. Decided it was time to do major organization of my fab. Looked at this web sie: http://tipnut.com/fabric-folding/ and dragged out one of my many 66 gals plastic containers of fab that are a mess. . The folding goes fast and it's fun seeing the little piles of color stack up. Eventually will be able to redo the storage so everything is color coordinated. I know this will take several days since I work fulltime and walk 2-3 miles every day. Sewing will just have to wait till I get this done. Funny thing...but I know I didn't buy all this fabric. ;-)

Never thought to use a ruler to fold my fabric...great idea...guess I'll have to put my fabric into some kinda order now!! lol

I did this method the first of the year when everyone was organizing thier sewing rooms--I caught that bug!! The process is so simple and works so GREAT! Everything is stacked and organized so very neatly. I can see at a glance what I have. The folding took several days, but it was so very worth it!!!

Great idea. Thanks for sharing. Oh, and by the way, I think fabric that is kept in totes multiplies. I know mine does. :lol:

I've been doing this for quite a while, and have a bit to add. I sstore my larger pieces on shelves, and when I get ready to fold the fabric, I measure it and write the yardage on a small sticky label and put that on a selvage edge, then finish folding around the ruler. This way, I know at a glance how much of each fabric I have and it saves a lot of guessing!
