Fabric Book For Babies

I want to make a fabric book for a little girl so she can learn the ABCs. I think you can purchase a pre-printed panel. Has anyone made one and can you recommend a good website for purchasing the panel? Any tips for making the book would also be appreciated.

Thanks,

I've always gotten mine at joanns or Walmart. My guess is joanns online would have it as well.

Hancock fabrics has the panels, or joanne's or hobby lobby! They are so easy, instead of turning, and stuffing batting in, I layer the warm and natural batting between the pages and used my serger then trimmed the pages with lace/ ribbon etc or just left some with the serge! Kiddos are all about texture! My grandson loves his GiGi books!

Joanns and/or Walmarts usually carries these. What I did with my panels was to border each "page" and make a quilt out of them. This seemed to work well and it could be spread out and "read". Looking forward to seeing your pic of your finished project. Good luck (smile).

I've made a ton of these! The one suggestion I would make is instead of using batting use craft fuse. I like how stiff the pages are. Only fuse one side. To me it's so much easier for the young child to hold the book.

Be aware that not all the panels are printed where they'll line up. Also instead of cutting on the cutting line, move out 1/4 of an inch and then cut the panels out. that way you're actually sewing on the cutting line and you won't lose any of the book that way.

Good luck!

I've started adding a fabric book to each quilt for Linus. You can buy them at mist big stores, or online. It is easier to use craft fuse, and I usually bind at least the cover page. Recently, did one on the solar system that was 50% off. Of course, is still had Pluto has a planet. LOL!!

This reminds me that I should get out a few of my panels and make some soft books for my baby niece - thanks!
