I was just reading the clip and rip thread, and it made me remember what a local LQS owner told me.

Her mother owned the store before her, and she thinks her mom's lung cancer was caused by ripping fabric. She herself ripped fabric for years, and always had a cough and congestion. She said one day she noticed that particles of fabric dust was always in the air, and she was always dusting and vacuuming because it stayed dusty. She started cutting the fabric, and her cough went away, and her shop wasn't dusty anymore. Now she thinks her mom's lung cancer was caused by breathing the fabric dust for so many years.

I just thought it was interesting. Not saying it's true!!!

There is some reality there that can't be ignored. Wether it caused the cancer would take much reseaarch. the fabric particals carried dyes and other fillers in the fabric never intended for human consuption many of them carcinogens. During my later years in dental we shifted from spraying disinfectants all over the place to hand wiping. Osha had sufficent data that the inhilation of the chemicals was dangerous. Though it slowed us down, there was a noticeable difference.

You never know it could have been at least part of the reason. Something to think about. Thanks for sharing!

AND years ago, the chemicals being used in manufacturing were not as regulated as they are today...

Yes, the chemicals back aways were very bad. I know a few farmers that got lung cancer who never smokes. Always thought it was the chemicals they used in the soil.
