well after hours of doing web searches for camera fabric (with pics of still cameras, not movie cameras) I finally hit pay dirt! and will I ever have to pay if I get it. My son is graduating in May with a major in Photography which is the reason I have searched for this fabric. But, at this price ($18 a yard!!!!) not so sure I should. I was thinking about ordering the min I would need to make a quilt for him - using it as the focus fabric so would not need to much - maybe get by with a yard - and using blends or something to bring out the colors in the fabric itself.

I have to say I have enjoyed looking at the fabrics on this website tho - they have so much odder stuff - alice in wonderland, goldilocks, vw bus, etc etc. Fun to look at even if not to buy! I think tho it is nice if you need to find just THE PERFECT fabric for someone special!

also wanted to add but whatever member was looking for kitchen gadget fabric - there is some in the vintage section of that website!

It's really thoughtful gift. I'm sure he will love it!

That website is not safe for fabri-holics!!! You can upload your own pictures or drawings and they will create fabric!! The possiblities boggle the mind. I must not bookmark.....I must not bookmark......

I could be wrong, but I think that's the site that let's you make yor own fabric. Most of it is custom, hence the price.

Here's some that has cameras on it.

Can't help you with the camera fabric, but I found an eBay listing with two yards of film reel fabric.

Okay, so everything is digital nowadays, but I think it would make real cool sashing or border for a photography themed quilt. And a lot cheaper than the camera fabric (little under $8 with the shipping)

right! what is $18 compared to 4 years of tuition payments! LOL

My only problem with custom printed fabric is that they state to wash on delicate...warm or cool. I'm afraid my recipient would not wash a quilt on delicate and the pictures (that I paid dearly for!) would wash out. Anyone have any experience with this? I really want some Marily Monroe fabric :(

OMG, what a great site, you can create your own fabric and have it printed, still $18 a yard, so if you wanted you could design your camera fabric!!! Why not, its still the same price, i am going consider doing this, wow thank you so much for sharing this site, OMG!!!!!!

Maybe put the washing instructions on the back of the quilt or on the label? :D:D:D

so you could put all the pics of quilts you made and have them make a fabric out of your quilts? that would be weird?

thanks for letting us know, have a great day

Have you tried findmyfabric.com?

RatherB Quilting 01-25-2011 01:42 PM

Oh geez. This website is cooler than I expected. Oi! I am just going to have to favorite it. You guys are such a bad influence on me (...according to Hubster...I think you guys are GREAT!)
Show us the camera quilt when it's done! Oh...and let us know the quality of the printing too! That way, we are more inclined....I mean...we might be tempted to order some!

RitaVil 01-25-2011 01:48 PM

I would buy it and make a wall hanging if you're not sure of the washability.

oatw13 01-25-2011 01:49 PM

That site is sooo cool. But, I have read and heard several complaints that the fabrics they send do not hold the colors very well. They seem to fade very quickly. For $18 a yard, that is not acceptable to me.

This may no longer be an issue, but it is something to think about and research.

Here are a few, although not just cameras. http://www.fabricparadise.com/cgi-bi...op/gallery.cgi

http://cgi.ebay.com/Kokka-Echino-Bla...#ht_2728wt_907

Have you considered some type of applique?

You would think that camera fabric would be easy to find.
