HELP... :?

I just reorganized my stash. That's not the bit I need help with. It looks nice and I can now see that I have plenty of all colors I like to work with. (Except silver and grey, which happens to be just the color segment I bought from Thousands the other day. So far, so cool.)

Sigh. So I bought a book on hand-dyeing the other day. I didn't really need that for any projects on hand. :hunf:

I hadn't really put books on my no-buy list. Yet. But today I suddenly found myself on amazon, realising I was feverishly browsing dyeing books. Now what's up with that!!!

I have one book already. I've looked through it enough to know it's a great book to start me off, probably will last me for ages. I have fabrics in my stash I can use when the time comes. I'll only need a few dyes and stuff to start playing, when I'm ready - and I still have projects I REALLY want to get out of the way before I start on that. So, definitely not time for more dyeing books.

Phew. :| Haven't bought any more yet. Won't won't won't. I know it's not my creative spirit needing more books. Please help me stay on....

So far this year - no quilting related purchases. BUT - just took my sewing machine in for repair. Grrrrrr . . . I have LOTS of other things I can do, but I have a 4 hour chunk of time to sew NOW.

I went to Joann's last night - and got binding for two quilts, thread to match that particular binding, sticky paper for my embroidery machine, AND THATS IT!!!

I have slipped yet again. It may seem I am hopeless, but I have resisted buying supplies not needed right now three times. Just deleted the shopping cart. Thanks for that suggestion. It helps. But Lois N posted a picture of a beautiful stained glass wall hanging of dragonflies. I have resisted that pattern before so now I'm afraid it will disappear. So I bought it. But I haven't bought any fabric for it, yet. Then my daughter asked what I wanted for Valentine's Day. So she's giving me the pattern. Is that a slip or just plain luck? Thank you for helping continue to realize how often I buy for my quilting. Awareness is the first step. But when does the ability to stop buying all the time kick in? I'm back on the wagon.

Ability to stop buying all the time?!?!.... oh that would be nice. I've been doing the "buy only as needed" thing since September or so, and I haven't yet come to that point.

Ok, I'm still on. I scratched my "go dye fabric!!!" itch by buying a packet of commercial dye for the washing machine and overdyeing two sets of pillowcases I'd accidentally washed together with a scarf that bled ugly grey streaks onto them. Lovely pure linen pillowcases, and I'm now so pleased I kept them, they turned out so well.

Finished my crossed canoes lap quilt I started last summer. I bought half of the fabrics for the blocks (plus half from stash). Made the blocks then put them aside. Started my fabric moratorium, then continued with the quilt just before Christmas. Borders and binding are from stash, back is flannel I purchased for it. http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-94983-1.htm

Spoke to my mum and dad and they love the quilt tops I've been making for them, so I'll be buying a matching border fabric for the two of them, probably sometime next week. I have enough flannel for the backs (I think).

Currently finishing another door curtain that's been waiting on my shelf for, erm, months. Good thing this fabric moratorium, it's really encouraging me to finish stuff I want off my chest!
