Has anyone used that very smooth fabric I think it is called chintz for quilting. I have a large remnant of blue and white print , and would like to use it./ I have washed it..it did not run or wrinkle or shrink.. any comments? seems it is a tad heavier than quilting cotton. not much tho. thanks

I've not used it, but you could...the difference in weight might be noticable in the final quilt...or maybe not. As long as it washes well it's possible. That weight is also great for bags, aprons, etc...if you decide not to use it for a quilt.

I'd choose a simple pattern and cut and sew very carefully. Because of the glaze, there is no give in the fabric and you can't adjust by stretching or easing. Do not try an eight pointed star - ask me how I know. It's my only UFO because it just wouldn't lay in nicely. Of course, it was also my first star, so there may have been more than one problem.

It will make a pretty quilt. Does JoAnn's still have the moire in polished cotton? That would go well with it. I have some dark blue, but it's buried.

I have alot of chintz as well, maybe its time I use it up!

To irish rose. simple is my cup of tea, "I'm going to make it the dark blue and white, maybe just a nine patch,hugs and kisses. easy.

It sews wonderfully for home dec and skirts, so should for a quilt, too. Just use a sharp needle and enjoy watching it go together. I like the sheen of chintz and polished cottons.
