I've been reading about all of your wonderful finds at Goodwill and thrift stores and couldn't figure out, why I couldn't find the fabric in mine. In my neighborhood, I have Goodwill, AMVets and Salvation Army within a mile of each other and there was never any fabric in the crafts department.
I found out Friday, that fabric isn't in the crafts department, it's hanging on hangers in the linen department...mixed in with sheets and curtains was more than 20 yards of 100% cotton solid colored and a few printed fabrics (never been used) which I bought for $16. Yeah!!!! |
I haven't found any fabrics in the thrift stores near me, but I did in Enid, OK. I keep looking in the crafts and the linens.

You just have to look all around. glad you got a good deal.

Can't beat a sweet deal like that!

Yeah glad you looked around and found some goodies. You need to walk the store over first time there and get the lay of the land. Few weeks ago found some baskets of material on shelves under knick knacks. But hey I found you man and prices like 15 cents and 25 and etc for nice pieces. You can pick and chose that small piece that catches your eye. I have bought several dust ruffles just to get the borders off, wash them and sit back in the recliner and cut them off lot of material and cute patterns in there. Even keep that other piece that goes under the mattress for other things, linings, crazy quilt backings and etc.

I have considered calling the local headquarters of Goodwill or Salvation Army and ask if there are certain stores that get the fabric and craft stuff. Some stores around here appear to have more than others.

I've found them.....just have to be there before the other quilters in my area!!!!! Good find!

Different stores will also have different merchandise. Sometimes you have to go a couple times a week. Good find for you!
