Fabric stores wanted between Michigan and Myrtle Beach, SC that are a must to visit
Could anyone tell me good fabric stores I can find on the drive from Michigan to Myrtle Beach, SC? I have been invited to go to Myrtle Beach, Sc in September with my daughter and son-in-law. His family has a condo there they vacation at. I haven't decided if I am going to drive or fly. If I drive I am looking for "side trips" to find any of the fabric stores that I keep reading here about. I thought I would turn it into a "quilting" trip and am looking for any suggestions that would help me plan my route. The route I first put together takes me down 75 to 71 Columbus to 38/77 Charleston to Winston Salem past Greensboro and 73/77 to Myrtle Beach. I haven't talked to my daughter yet about the route they normally drive. If I fly then I would want to find any stores I should visit in or around Myrtle Beach.

Where in MI would you be leaving from? There is a wonderful quilt shop on U.S. 23 just before Au Gres if you are heading south. Can't remember the name of it - there is a big sign on the road that just says "Quilt Shop". It is very unimposing looking, but once you get inside it is like Aladdin's cave - they have SO much fabric, so many patterns, and they are very, very nice people.

Leaving from Belleville just outside Detroit.

I love Quilt Beginnings in Columbus. It's on Sawmill Road the northwest side. (71S to 270W get off the sawmill rd exit and turn left)

If you are traveling from Chareston WV down into VA. Just across the NC border at Fancy Gap I believe it is Exit 6. I believe it is in NC might be inside VA border. off to the right you can see a sign that says Variety Store or something like that. It is filled with fabric. Not the most current but good prices and good selection.

I live in Myrtle Beach and know there are two really great stores here, not massive but beautiful displays and great people. They both have classes and Accent Sewing has a longarm for rent. I know of two other shops locally... My favorite two here are The Quilter's Cottage and Accent Sewing in Murrells Inlet (just south of MB). There is also Quilting at the Beach/Sewing in the Carolinas (just off 501 in MB) and Sew Many Common Threads (on 544 between MB and Conway). I haven't been to these last two lately so not much info on those...
