Hi all,

Is quilting other than crazy quilting always done with 100% cotton fabric these days? It's just that's all I see in the online quilting shops. The reason I ask is my Mum has an unfinished quilt that my Grandmother started years ago before she passed & never finished it has some seventies fabric on it that is nylon. I must say though it isn't to my taste!

I have used silk, satin, eyelet, nylon, corduroy, denim, you name it.

Hi Maria,

Oh lovely that's useful to know. I'm just pondering (in fact the creative artistic brain is in overdrive) lol. Where I live there are some fantastic asian fabric shops with beautiful sari fabrics. Although some are very sheer, I'm sure others would make fantastic quilting material. OOOOh now I am lost in a fabric dreamworld......

I think most fabrics could be used in a quilt. One just needs to get a little inventive.

i have seen a few crazy quilts and they all have had differient kinds of fabric. I would use everyting and any thing I liked for the quilt. :)

If it is a quilt to be used and washed, I use cotton and sometimes a blend .
If it will not be washed you can be wide open and the sky is the limit.
