Fair price for Husqvarna 1200 machine?
A friend of mine is considering buying this machine used, and has no idea what a fair price is for this machine, and I can't find any on ebay (presently or already sold) to advise her. Does anyone know what a fair price for this machine is? And can you tell me what features it has? (Dual feed dogs?) (she's going to see it tomorrow). Thanks for your help.

I found this thread:
http://sewing.patternreview.com/cgi-...ard.pl?t=27174 which indicates that this model is commonly called the Viking #1 (as opposed to the #1+). I did a search of completed listings on eBay. This is a tough call, but just from my cursory survey it looks as if this was a top-of-the-line machine 18 or so years ago and might be worth somewhere around $300 (the $700+- $100 in the thread was posted in 2007 when the machine woudl have been more valuable). You could probably get much better info by joining the vintage Viking group at groups.yahoo.com; however, it might take awhile to get accepted into the group. Edit: Actually, I read that thread a little more closely and someone purchased the model 1200 for $300 in 2008. This would lead me to a currently valuation of maybe $150 or so (because electronic boards, when they go out on a machine like this, tend not to be replaceable). |
Thank you so much! That is very helpful. At least she will have a ballpark figure to go with. I did know that the machine said #1 on it, but since I'm unfamiliar with Husqvarna products, I thought that just couldn't be the model number to use in a search. I didn't search with that number, only the 1200 number. Now I know better...Many thanks!

Thanks for your help. The seller was asking $499, and she decided not to buy it. I have no idea what came with it---I didn't even see the machine. I think she prefers a Pfaff, and is focusing on getting one used.
