My husband purchased me an embroidery machine and requested me to put a logo that he designs on his baseball cap. Do I need a special hoop for a cap? Can you direct me to a site for information. Thanks very much.

I have not used these frames, but I knew they made some sort of frame for this purpose... I'd ck with the maker of ur emb machine.....

I bet this is not a popular frame.... maybe u could drum up business from other local business to make their hats too..... just an idea...

What kind of machine do you have? I would think depending on what you have would depend on how to hoop a hat.

Hooping hats with a regular home embroidery machine is not easy. You do need a special insert that, at least on all the machines I've used, will fit in the 5 x 7 hoop. The insert comes with instructions.

I do embroidery for people all the time but will only do hats for a very special few, mainly family, because it is so tricky.

Not saying you can't do it, just be aware and have a couple of practice hats - I buy them at Wal-Mart for around $3.

You could do it with sticky back stablizer if you try hard! I have done it before..........or make the embroidery a patch and sew the patch to the hat!

I was thinking about a hat hoop, but the price wasn't worth the amount I would use it. I simply made the design with two layers of stabilizer, one tear away and one regular. I used the machine to go around the edges with a satin stitch.

Do you already have the design digitized? The software is really expensive if you don't already have it. I have not perfected digitizing yet and there is a knack to it.

I hope you are able to get it done, that would be a wonderful thing to do for your husband.

Hoop It Alls are great! We have used them since we first started embroidering in 1994.

I have made many and used my large hoop and just pinned well. Use a sticky back stabilizer.
