Scissors: Kai

Sewing machine: Brother 1500

Thread for hand quilting: don't hand quilt. For hand applique and binding - Bottom Line

Seam allowance tools: ?? I use add-a-quarter and add-an-eighth, but only on minis or paper pieced. Otherwise, I don't use seam allowance tools. Unless you're talking about a quarter-inch foot on my machine?

Needles for hand sewing: John James, Richard Hemming, or Roxanne. Sharps size 10 or 11

Rotary cutters and mats: (type and size) Not really picky, I do like the auto-closing cutters. I like to have one small mat next to my machine and one large mat for yardage.

Rulers and templates: Olfa Frosted

Pins, clips and other types: have to be nickel-plated. I like the flower head pins and the teensy silk pins with white heads

Other tools and gadgets you may find handy:
My leather thimble.
Niagra non-aerosol spray starch.
syringe-type machine oil

Rulers ... Omnigrid. I've just replaced ALL my other rulers with Omnigrid. As far as I'm concerned, there is no other ruler.

Mat ... Beba, it's the "translucent" kind, not the green kind. My rotary cutter blade rarely needs replacement after getting this mat. I've been using the same blade now for the last TWO QUILTS and the night before last I was able to cut through FOUR thicknesses of thick ticking fabric without a blemish. My mat is also in great shape (2 years old now).

Needles for hand sewing .... Spiral eye. I LOVE them.

Where do you purchase a translucent mat? I've never even heard of them.
Thanks

The red clips for holding binding.
But my very favorite is the Quilt In A Day triangle square up ruler. One cut to square up.

Martelli rotary cutter and mat.
Kai scissors.
Creative Grid Rulers. Replacing all other brands with this one slowly but surely.

If you google Beba mats, you can buy them from an online source. They seem to be reasonably priced.

Computer.

Scissors - Fiskars that you squeeze. I have long skinny fingers and the other type of scissors give me fits.

Rotary Cutter - right now True Cut. also have Martelli

I have those clips and like them

Pfaff 2140 and 44 (both updated to 2170) and a new PC 1500S

Cutting mat - something I bought at a quilt show, it's white.

Needles - usually some kind of sharp milliners. I like long skinny needles.

Pet dishes to hold pins.

I have Olfa mats - but they have been used to cut mats along with fabric.
