Help me, I am puzzled about the Singer Featherweight sewing machines. I know there are a lot of people that are just in love with them, but I'm not sure I understand why. Can someone explain the reason? Is it the nostalgia? Thanks!

Picture what you want most in a sewing machine and you have it in a feather weight. It sews the straitest seams, it's light and portable, and best of all you can do pretty much all of your own maintence and it is a real workhorse. And of course it's really cute.

I love that it's got history. It's so cool to think about someone in the 1950s (in my case) getting this cool new sewing machine and being so excited about it. Plus it's soooo cute!

I think it is part nostalgia. But are really great straight stitch machines very light weight for traveling dont take up much room and of course they are easy to work on and dont often break down

I taught a Featherweight class. We had a club and you had to have one to be in the club. I always told the girls, Don't make a mistake as they are very hard to get out. They sew such a nice tight seam. And also a very straight seam. Nice to take to class as they weigh a mere 11 lbs.

The featherweight is a perfection machine for piecing, and taking to classes. While I do not have one, I know they are wonderful!!

I love mine for All those reasons. It's so cute and adorable too. The motivation to actually Buy one came from memories of my gr'ma sewing on hers in our kitchen when I was a girl. My aunt gave it to the goodwill when my other aunt died (I didn't realize it was being kept at her house or I would have asked for it), and I was so upset that I bought one as a gift to myself from my grandmother. :-)

I have one and use it on and off. When I get out a new machine, I sometimes get flustrated and turn to the old tried and true featherweight. I need to get it out now, it is just a workhorse. It sews the best seams, and it is nostalgic, and most likely sewed many beautiful things before I got it.

They are like a good wife or husband they are aways there. Supportive, does good work and will not let you down when.
