I've done it accidentally -
put wool in very hot water - agitate for a long time - put in very cold water - dry in a very hot dryer guaranteed to shrink your fabric |
I've done it on purpose both with yardage and with sweaters. Felted wool is beautiful, soft and thick, and felted sweaters can be made into wonderful stuffed toys and pin cushions. I did it a bit differently than you did though...soak first, regular agitation, checking several times, low temp dryer only if more felting is desired, pressing to stabilize the fabric, etc.
