Yeah Yvonne, Leslee has always got something in her hands stitching away on breaks or lunch hour so I figure to do the same. I decided carrying the baby quilts around is fine, but a tad bulky so I’m working on the Hawaiian patch. This way I also can learn the technique and apply it to a bigger piece at home. With Leslee around to answer my questions I've really got a pretty sweet deal going on. Today I figure to hit her up for hints on good slip stitching having squeezed all the details for cutting and basting the patch last Saturday. I must be amusing in my naiveté; still she is so patient with me. Tell me I’ve not got a great friend!

Steve, You are also so very lucky to have Leslee for one-on-one consultations!!
Leslee taught me Hawaiian quilting too... long distance! She challenged me and then had to answer all my questions. I've got my block made but have yet to do anything much with it. Now I'll have to get with it before you pass me by! The race is on! :lol: I want to add corner designs to my top before I quilt it so it'll be awhile before it's really 'done'!

Yeah Yvonne, but yours is probably a large piece. I was thinking, if this turns out, to go ahead and make several more and incorporate them into a large piece. Maybe six flowers? That is, of course, if it's traditional to do so. Something about the heritage makes me want to do this one correctly. And you are right, the one on one lessons are awesome.

I like it but don't like the feel of it. It's not as soft as I thought it should be since it's going to a baby. Maybe I should rewash it using a bit of fabric softener?

no,no,no, steve i would give it just as is. no telling if the baby might have allergies.or even get some kind of skin rash.

I know why I missed this photo coming thru now that I see the date it was posted.....I was out of town camping that weekend! It is a wonderful quilt and I bet baby loves it!

Steve, Your baby quilt is beautiful. If you do decide to wash it, be sure to use laundry products made especially for use on baby clothes. Congrats on completing your first quilt.

I'm not sure about the answer to your question-
however, I sure do like the colors and shapes
in your quilt; what a very well-put-together
quilt, especially for "first" one.:)

I've found some of my better pictures were ones I have taken out on the deck in the sunshine...either laid out on a spare white sheet (stand on a chair if its a big quilt) or have somebody or two somebodies hold it up with the sun behind you.... hope this helps.
