I finally got the courage to FMQ on a real quilt--lap size. Once I got the speed of the machine and my hands to work together, it wasn't so bad. The one goofy thing I did was use the paper with the large meander pattern--because I have no talent for drawing anything & my designs looked awful.
That paper was nice to follow----but now I have all the paper to tear off!!! I don't know how some of you can do your first FMQ quilt and have it look so good!! For me, I have to have a pattern to follow. I think I could get addicted to FMQ if I did it more often. I had a real feeling of accomplishment. Chris |
I am soooo glad you finally did FMQ !!! Now, show
us a picture of it. |
That would be me also!! Love to see

I don't even own a digital camera & have no idea how to put pix if I had one.

I read some trace a pattern onto washaway stablizer, much easier no tearing just washing...

sounds like a good idea to me. What I used reminds me of paper piecing and having to tear all those papers off!!

Congratulations on trying FMQ!
Clever to put paper over it- I would have never thought of that. Fabric.com has fabric with a washable pattern on it- you just follow the lines, then it washes out. I thought about that, but then just practiced on scraps instead. Mine isn't great, but I love doing it. |
Good for you. Doesn't matter how you get it done, the fact that you took the time to try it matters. I love how quickly you can get something quilted. I would never handquilt anything, but using the machine for me is so much fun.

I also love handquilting but just don't have enough time to piece all the stuff many of you on this board do.
I still work full time, have a garden, exercise, etc. My husband is disabled and there are many things he needs help with---so-o-o my sewing is kind of on the back burner most of the time. Not complaining just saying. There are so many things I want to make but alas not enough time. Chris |
