I haven't either. And it's true that the washer is supposed to be bent.

The washer is supposed to be bent and acts like a locking washer. You might have the bend in the wrong direction or you may have the blade assembly on the wrong side of the handle. The last is really easy to do.

I had the same problem and contacted fiskars with a photo to prove I had one. Told them the problem, I got a new one. Now I am having the same problem. Some of you mention washer??? I don't have a washer. I put on a blade, put the bolt on and off I go. DH cuts my strips for me, and he keeps it quite tight. He said, the blade is suppose to cut the fabric. I had it a little looser, so it was just rolling across the fabric. Since it's tightened up, I don't experience it getting loose so offen

The blade cuts it by rolling across the fabric. It isn't supposed to be stationary. It's supposed to roll.

I broke two Fiskars this spring by pushing down too hard, I guess. The mechanism that keeps it away from the closed position broke.

My DH tried to fix it, but it broke again upon the first use. So sad.
