Flannel at JoAnn's

I was looking for fabric for a rag quilt------started at WalMart-----------couldn't find even two I wanted together. This rag throw will be across the width strips, not blocks, so I want a couple tonals and a couple prints. ?Then, I went to JoAnn's. Not a thing in the snuggle section I even cared about. I had no idea their flannel was so thin and loosely woven. And just across from that I found shirting flannel. In the past, any shirting flannel I'd found was considerably heavier than regular flannel. This crap was as thin, if not more so, than the Snuggle.

I finally found two brown tonals in the "quilting" flannel. For the other two choices, I picked out a printed stripe regular cotton that I just love (blue/green/brown) and then one of the 30's type woven plaids. Love them together.

But I was sorely disappointed in the flannel selection-------both stores

Thanks for posting! I never think of Connecting Threads for flannel. You have had good results... what about the pilling?

GrannieAnnie, I agree with you.
And if you read my post about prices of framing (a sham on sales) and my trouble with flannel at JoAnn's before, you'll find many great places on line that have wonderful flannels. Just google flannel or flannel fabric and you'll find a bunch!

this was a project I wanted to work on NOW, not wait until something shipped. Besides, it's really tricky ordering 4 fabrics to match on line if they aren't offered as a collection to begin with.

I've bought good flannel at WalMart and at JoAnn's before. And not that long ago. this stuff was all just too wishywashy.

I haven't actually bought their flannel, but I've seen it in person (it has a wonderful feel) and heard rave reviews from other quilters who have used it. And CT stands behind their products.
