Has anyone ever made a regular cotton pieced top of a quilt with a fleece backing?? Any problems? I don't want to start one and not finish because of quilting problems.

Many have and have had good luck. Just be mindful that it will stretch a bit.

I recently finished two rag quilts with fleece on one side and flannel on the other. Currently I'm doing a cotton top and the back is flannel - this one is not a rag quilt. Everything is going ok so far.

I have made this type of a quilt many times. IMHO, I have found that it works best not to prewash any of the fabric so that the shrinkage of the cotton and fleece happens at once. I have family that lives in Alaska and they love these types of quilts!!

I made a quilt last week using Micro Velvet for the backing, the batting was 100% cotton, the front was 6.5" squares with sashing and the back was Micro Velvet. I SID with my 401A Singer, the 301A did not want to budge a stitch (almost like quilting though jello) but the 401A stitched right through all three layers.

Yes but tacked, not quilted. Buy GOOD fleece though. Not cheap stuff

Yep, and I love it. You have to be very careful not to stretch the fleece, but I love the coziness of the quilt. I have used it with and without batting. Works the same as Minkee.

I've been thinking of using fleece for the backing, but wonder what kind of needle to use. . .
