Ok I did something stupid - I was purchasing some items from fabric.com and needed to spend a little more in order to get free shipping so I bought 1/4 yard of something called "Floorcloth". I want to make some pretty kitchen or hand towels with it. Has anyone ever used this?

I may be wrong but I think it is more the wt of canvas. Put cloth over it or paint on it and use it for a rug.

I thought it was used to make rugs.

Did it get really soft when you washed it? I have a lovely piece of cotton fabric I could use for a nice trim on a handtowel maybe I'll try it that.

My DIL gave me a book for Xmas last year with patterns for 'floor quilts' .. you shellack, lacquer or maybe 'mod-pog' the fabric pieces to the floor cloth, trim out the edge, and have a beautiful 'quilt' you can walk on. I haven't made on yet, .... maybe I can't get past the whole... 'walking on a quilt'.......

are they attached to the floor in any way? |
I think they put non-skid stuff on the bottom - I don't think they are attached to the floor.

Not that I'm aware of... I'll scan the cover when I get home tonight, it seems like a pretty good idea... I'm not sure if my dog would walk on a rug that had any kind of a sheen to it, she walks around anything laying on the floor
|
The only floor cloth that I know of, because I used it....is to paint on. Then you bind it and throw it on the floor.

Okay! I finally remembered to look for the floor quilt book. here's a pic of the cover if anyone's still interested.

i doubt that they're supposed to look like a quilt. more like a rug for people who couldn't afford a real rug, i'd guess.
