Flying Geese

What is your favorite method for creating flying geese blocks and why? Paper piecing, specialty rulers, putting squares on corners of rectangles?

Pam Bono shows a unique way that is very fast and fun. You can see her on you tube.

Triangulation software (paper piecing) for accuracy, no waste and easy as can be.

I just got an email from Martingale about this. They had 4 different methods. I like the old stand-by, squares sewn onto a rectangle, but I've also done it as 2 HST squares. I think Eleanor Burns' method looks interesting, too.

i use method 3 of Alex Anderson's method from her book 'Keep on Quilting' it works great for me- i hated making them until i learned this technique- you start with a 1 large square & 4 small squares- 2 of the small squares go into diagonal corners of the large square- stitch on both sides of the diagonal- cut in the center- press- add next small square on corner that needs it- stitch on both sides- cut- press- 4 flying geese- all done - there are probably tutorials actually showing this technique- it changed everything for me- before this i would do anything to not have to make flying geese - now i do them on purpose.
i also like foundation piecing them- especially long rows of small ones.

Googled Alex Anderson's flying geese. It's amazing! I'll never hesitate to do flying geese again!

I use Eleanor Burns' flying geese rulers and I love them. This is the easiest way I've found to make flying geese and they work very well for me.

Flying geese are used so much that anything that makes them easier and accurate are worth the money.
After trying many different ways I found Quilt In A Day rulers method the easiest and most accurate.
Eleanor Burns is the leader in innovative ways to do quilting.
Less cutting than the method of all those little squares
