Forgotten stash found!

In searching for a bag I wanted to put Christmas gifts in, I found a bag that had 3 different Christmas fabrics I had forgotten about! It was almost like getting new stuff!

Have you ever rediscovered fabric you forgot you had stashed?

sandy l 12-25-2012 04:29 AM

Oh yeah, both fabric and books.

gsbuffalo 12-25-2012 04:48 AM

here to..just found a couple of boxes of fabric I ordered thru the summer and life got busy and forgot

sewready 12-25-2012 07:53 AM

I have been straigthening closets that I haven't been in for a while and I too, have found fabric I had forgotten about.
It is a great feeling, like getting an extra little present!

Threads 77 12-25-2012 08:38 AM

Oh what fun! Love those kind of surprises.

grammy Dwynn 12-25-2012 08:59 AM

Oh yes, have found those 'hidden' fabrics :)
and then there has been the reverse ~ Where in the 'HECK' is the sack with.... :(

Quilty-Louise 12-25-2012 09:40 AM

All the time.

Sometimes I even have to think hard about WHEN & WHERE I bought
it from.

patchsamkim 12-25-2012 09:51 AM

Yes, I have...I had been going through some bins I had of unfinished projects. I got to the bottom bin, and instead of it being full of projects, I found that it was full of fat quarter bundles I had forgotten about.....very fun find!

MaryMo 12-25-2012 09:57 AM

oh yes ... isn't it wonderful! :p

RedGarnet222 12-25-2012 09:58 AM

Oh my I sure have! Sometimes I even find it put away in my organized stash and think HUH? I don't remember this at all! The funny find is the Pair of the same patterns I have bought. I must have really wanted that pattern.

tulip43 12-25-2012 10:32 AM

Oh ya, but a nice surprise

sewplease 12-25-2012 10:38 AM

Good for you! It's like another Christmas present! :-)

That is usually what happens to me!

SouthPStitches 12-25-2012 11:20 AM

Found fabric is better than finding money in the couch cushions.

I hope that I, too, will find lost items as well as things I've forgotten about when I get to straightening the sewing room -- but not until after the holidays. This whole week will be for resting, regrouping, and enjoying family and friends. I look forward to all the little presents I hope to find buried within. I hope all are enjoying this time of peace and joy.

joyce888 12-25-2012 01:36 PM

All the time.

Raggiemom 12-25-2012 02:53 PM

Once or twice I've found "lost items". There has been a piece or two of fabric that I wonder where it came from :)

AuntieD 12-25-2012 03:02 PM

Happens to me and its fun to go thru my new treasures.

kay carlson 12-25-2012 03:22 PM

Merry Christmas :-)

When I cleaned out the linen closet recently - in order to purge extra items - I discovered some quilt blocks my paternal grandmother had made. Boy, I had put them near the quilt she had made and forgotten about the "good and safe" place. I thought that I had turned the entire household inside-out hunting for those blocks!!!! Then, there is the story about a laundry basket of misc. fabric I had stashed in another closet.....

Congrats on your discovery! I have been sewing today and enjoying my stash. This has been very relaxing. :-)

I found some misplaced Christmas fabrics about 3 weeks ago. Yipee!

Gotta say that the reverse outweighs my finds

quilttiger 12-25-2012 05:13 PM

With prices as high as they have been lately for LQS fabrics, it is nice to find fabrics you forgot you had! It's happened to me a number of times, too.

Cybrarian 12-25-2012 05:32 PM

Not long ago I looked in a shopping tote bag I had hanging in my sewing room closet expecting to find one thing in it when I discovered a group of fabrics perfect for a beautiful spring wall hanging I had forgotten I had bought. So happy will be starting it soon!

normasews 12-25-2012 05:43 PM

I don't have such luck. No goodies to be found in this home.

Yooper32 12-26-2012 04:04 AM

Yup! Been there, done that. Pre-Christmas, I found a box full of runner kits I had totally forgotten that I owned.

MimiBug123 12-26-2012 05:43 AM

I have misplaced some Christgmas fabric that I bought a couple of months ago. I would much rather find fabric than lose it!

kateyb 12-26-2012 06:33 AM

Oh, yes! I know what is in the sewing room because I cleaned it recently but I do have some stuff in storage that will be a great surprise when I get to it.

MargeD 12-26-2012 07:24 AM

Who me??? Never. LOL. Even after purging my stash before we had to move to a 2 bedroom apt. I've found some fabric I knew I bought, but hadn't seen in forever. I'm slowly trying to get all my "ducks in a row" so to speak so I can find what I want when I go look for it. Yes, I know, in a perfect world, but I can try. It is fun when you discover fabric you had forgotten about though.

Nilla 12-26-2012 07:28 AM

I'm getting ready to go through my bins to make 2 1/2inch strips for a scrappy. I can't wait to see what all is in there.

Maybe 2013 will be the year I finally get all my stash organized. I've started cutting left overs into 2 1/2, 2 and 1 1/2 inch strips/squares. I want to keep all larger pieces separated by approximate size as well.

Unfortunately I'll never get really organized. I simply do not have the space. Drat!

glenda5253 12-26-2012 09:32 AM

I have found 'surprises' many times and most of the time I can't remember the purpose I had in mind when I made the purchase.

katesnanna 12-26-2012 03:08 PM

When I moved into my sewing room I was surprised several times. Once I get it super organised (Lol) I should know where everything is.

anniebannanny 12-26-2012 03:20 PM

My DH was helping me look for a tablerunner my mother had made many years ago and while looking he uncovered much of my stash that I had forgotten all about. He told me I had soooo much it was like Christmas everytime I opened a box...I couldn't disaggree with him! It was like uncovering a trusure!

sewdamncute 12-26-2012 06:40 PM

All the time...sometimes more than once!:D

Greenheron 12-26-2012 08:54 PM

Oh, I find stuff and it's either "Eureka!" or "What was I thinking when I bought that?"

Scakes 12-27-2012 06:09 AM

I do it too. I've found fabric I'd forgotten about buying. And books. And patterns. What really gets me is when I find a duplicate book or pattern. :)

Qltmom 12-27-2012 08:38 AM

Forgotten stash found

I, too, have experiences like this...asking myself where and when but most importantly of all the questions was why? Or I finds a stash obviously bought for a particular pattern but no pattern to be found. Then I have to ask the question, what do I do next? Separate it into the major stash or leave it together and hope someday I will remember the "why" and find the pattern.

imnywoman 12-27-2012 09:25 AM

Yes, and it's always like getting a present!! Have fun!

Gabrielle's Mimi 12-27-2012 10:06 AM

I am in the process of moving and I have found all sorts of things, especially some UFOs that I had completely forgotten about.

Halo 12-27-2012 10:21 AM

Yes! Yes! & Yes! Been there done that many times. Then I think, I need to stop buying fabric till I know what I already have hidden. Then I think again, NOPE, can't stop. I just don't have the will not to buy.
