I am interested in finding as many four patch variations blocks as possible for a large quilt project I want to start soon.
I am thinking about having each block to be 4" finished size, meaning each four patch block to be 8" finished size.
Please share your ideas for this four patch block project. Size does not matter, more interested in the different variations for this block.

There are lots of four patch variations. One is the double four patch. Another is to use HSTs for two of the patches. That has three variations alone, seams in a line and seams across with dark to the center or light to the center.

I love all the variations you posted, Amma! I am bookmarking the thread for looking at later.

Jacob's Ladder is a 4-patch variation but I'm not sure it fits your plan. (I just happen to love that pattern).

My other favorite is a basic 4-patch (or 9-patch) with an alternating square of the same size. I have used a feature fabric in the alternate square and I have done applique in the alternating square. Simple but pretty.

OMG....what a can of worms, I opened here!

Yikes.....I had no idea there were that many variations. Overwhelming to say the least! Now to narrow down my search...reminds me of my favorite saying, "Be careful what you ask for....

Thank you so much for the enlightment  and the many possibilities!

Isn't EQ wonderful.

For non-EQers: The "It's OK if you sit on my Quilt" book also has a nice selection of blocks. What I like about it is that it shows blocks with different divisions. The four-patch variations would all be in the Division by 4 section. (At least I think that's what it's called)
