Hello, I need to vend as I spend the whole day trying to figure out what is wrong with my machine. I am trying to free motion quilt on a baby quilt using duck template. First 2 row went smooth then the top thread started to pop out on the 3rd row, after doing this couple of times, I change the needle, re bobbin and re thread the machine again. Still the same problem so I change the bobbin and needle again. Sew a duck or so then then top breaks again. Clean out the bobbin area and underneath - Grr!! Im at end of my rope and gave up for the day. Any ideas or suggestion - why?? or time to take to shop?

I stepped away from mine this week-end. I was ata retreat and suffered the same frustration. Guess it's to the shop we go tomorrow.

Could it possible be the size of the needle?

For whenever you go back to your machine....when I had that problem, it turned out that the ..oh....what is it called....let me check my owner's manual...thread take up lever was letting the thread slip off. I ended up taking it to the shop, as my machine was still under warranty. I was told a part had been recalled, but he wasn't replacing it unless people had trouble with it. (Pfaff expression 2.)

With that being said, are you using the same thread on the bobbin as you are using on the top? My machine seems to prefer the same thread. Maybe that could be it?

At any rate, leave it for now and come back to it tomorrow...or at least wait an hour before you come back to try to work it out. :) Sometimes just moving away from the machine really really helps.

When you say "the Top breaks" is it the needle, the thread or what is breaking? I know when I break a needle quilting it is because I am pulling the quilt through to fast and putting presure on the needle and the needle comes down on the presure plate. I have to slow myself down.

Walking away is good too. Do you drink coffee.... a cup is what I need now.
